The British weather is famously unpredictable – a fact that's rarely far from mind when planning a holiday. But with the right preparation and approach, weather need never dampen your holiday spirit. Here’s our quick guide to those weather-proof adventures:

PACK FOR ALL WEATHERS

Even in the hottest of summers, it’s not unheard of to have a downpour - so we recommend packing for all weathers! A lightweight, waterproof jacket is a great idea year around, as even in the summer the sea breeze may make temperatures feel cooler, and a fold-up umbrella can easily double as a parasol in the sunshine.

FLEXIBLE ITINERARIES

As a family-run company, we have the flexibility to adapt our itinerary to suit the weather! This may mean adjusting the time we spend at our outdoor visits where the weather matters (longer on a sunny day, and shorter on a rainy one), or adapting to indoor alternatives if the weather is exceptionally bad.

PLANNING WITH THE SEASONS

One thing we always do is to plan our programme with the season in mind. That means in winter months, tours are more likely to include indoor visits, or towns where you can nip in and out of shops and museums if the weather is bad, while in the summer we’ll focus on gardens and outdoor attractions. You’re unlikely to find us suggesting scenic tours across Dartmoor on a February tour!

THE SILVER LINING

You know what they say - there’s no such thing as bad weather! The dramatic skies over Snowdonia, mysterious mists in the Scottish Highlands, and sudden rainbows over Cornish fishing villages often create the most vivid memories and stunning photographs, that you won’t want to miss (from the dry and warm of the coach, at least!)

With thoughtful preparation, flexible planning, and personal attention that only a family-run tour company can provide, you'll enjoy wonderful adventures, come rain or shine. After all, there's no such thing as bad weather – only inappropriate clothing and inflexible itineraries!
