The Gairloch Hotel is a 3-star Victoria Hotel located in the pretty harbour town of Gairloch. It offers comfortable ensuite bedrooms and a restaurant with choice menu. There is some lift access at this hotel

The Caledonian Hotel is a 3-star contemporary style hotel situated close to the centre of Ullapool, a short walk from the harbour. It offers ensuite bedrooms and restaurant with choice menu. There is no lift at this hotel, but it does have some ground floor rooms

The Norseman Hotel is a 3-star hotel situated on the riverside in Wick. It offers ensuite bedrooms and a restaurant with choice menu, as well as a garden area. There is no lift at this hotel, but it does have some ground floor rooms

After our overnight stay in Glasgow, we continue our journey northwards, following the shores of the stunning Loch Lomond, over Rannoch Moor and through the stunning mountain scenery of Glen Coe, arriving in Fort William for some free time. We continue through Glen Shiel and along the shores of Loch Duich and Loch Alsh, passing the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, before crossing the Skye Bridge onto the Isle of Skye for our 2 night stay

Skye is famed for its dramatic vista of jagged mountains and sweeping moors, a breathtaking panorama of lochs and peaks. Marvel at the majesty of Dunvegan Castle, the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod, with its rich history, beautiful gardens, and stunning sea views, where we have free time to explore at leisure

Leaving Skye, we enjoy a unique underwater adventure aboard the Seaprobe Atlantis Glass-Bottomed Boat, witnessing the fascinating marine life of Scotland's coast, before beginning our scenic drive along Loch Carron and Loch Maree, one of Scotland’s bonniest lochs. We arrive at Gairloch around lunchtime and enjoy a free afternoon relaxing in this pretty coastal resort

Inverewe Garden is a botanical wonder nestled in the northern Highlands, warmed by the Gulf Stream, and boasting an impressive collection of exotic plants. It is the work of father and daughter, Osgood and Mairi Mackenzie, who created this beautiful lochside garden from barren land alongside the Atlantic Ocean, and is home to Scotland’s Big Five: red squirrel, red deer, otter, seal and golden eagle. After free time to explore, we follow the coast northwards past stunning views of cliffs, beaches and islands, reaching Ullapool mid-afternoon

We depart Ullapool and discover the wild, rugged beauty of the North Coast 500 as we follow the coast of North West Scotland, passing mile after mile of soaring cliffs and rocky headlands, sea lochs, sheltered bays and sandy white beaches which are almost always deserted. We enjoy a light lunch at Smoo Cave Hotel in Durness, the most north-westerly village in the UK, before reaching Wick, our home for the next two nights

We take the ferry crossing from Scrabster to the stunning Orkney Isles, and enjoy a scenic circular tour of these beautiful islands which have UNESCO World Heritage status. We visit the main sights including the Churchill Barriers, Kirkwall with its 12th century cathedral, 5000 year old Neolithic village Skara Brae and the Italian Chapel, created by prisoners of war during WW2

Dunrobin Castle is the quintessential fairytale castle and the most northerly of Scotland’s Great Houses, dating back to the 1300s, with stunning rooms, expansive gardens and daily bird of prey shows to explore and experience. Our visit here brings our journey on the North Coast 500 to a close, before heading southwards to Perth for our overnight stay and homeward journey
