Itinerary

Enjoy a relaxing Bank Holiday weekend on our brand new break to the traditional seaside resort of Whitby, nestled on the edge of the North York Moors

North York Moors Railway, Pickering & Thornton-le-Dale

We begin the day with a scenic steam train journey on the North York Moors Railway to Pickering, passing moorland villages including Goathland, home of TV series Heartbeat. There is free time to explore Pickering before rejoining the coach for the short journey to Thornton-le-Dale. Here, you can see the famous Beck Isle Cottage or visit Matthewsons auctioneers from TV series Bangers and Cash. We end the day with a scenic drive back across the moors

Whitby

We enjoy a free day exploring the traditional fishing port of Whitby, famous for its connections with Captain Cook & Dracula. There is a replica of Cook’s Endeavour in the harbour, which is well worth a visit, before enjoying lunch at one of the many fish & chip shops and restaurants in the town. Why not head up the 199 steps to visit magnificent ruins of Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s Church, which reputedly can seat more people than Westminster Abbey!

York

We will enjoy an extended stop in York on Friday, with free time to explore the historic city centre, visit York Minster or maybe even walk the walls!
