Itinerary

Discover the beautiful seaside resort of Scarborough, Britain’s first holiday resort, staying at the excellent Cumberland Hotel. Discover the story of two abbeys with an included visit to Rievaulx Abbey and the option to see Whitby Abbey on this five day break

Rievaulx Abbey & Helmsley
Discover the impressive ruins of the historic Rievaulx Abbey, one of England’s most powerful Cistercial monasteries. Featuring a new museum and visitor experience, now you can discover the lives of the monks who lived here, and the rise and dramatic fall of the first Cistercian abbey in the north of England.

We also spend free time in Helmsley, a market town featuring boutique and independent shops, Helmsley Castle, walled gardens and much more

Whitby (£)
The traditional port of Whitby is famous for its locally landed fish and chips. The quayside is dominated by the ruin of Whitby Abbey high up on the cliffs, while its quaint streets are dotted with both high street and quirky individual shops for your to explore.

Or, if you’re feeling brave, why not take the 199 steps all the way up to the Abbey itself, for stunning views over the town!

NB: Whitby Abbey entry is not included
